When you are in need to get the best gear for your VR porn, you have to choose between 2 categories of VR Head Mounted Displays (HMDs, also known as VR headsets): mobile and tethered. While tethered devices come along with their own display, mobile headsets are just container with lenses into which you place your smartphone to create your virtual (XXX) world.
In mobile headset the lenses separate the screen into two images for your eyes, turning your smartphone into a VR device. Such headset like the Samsung Gear VR, Google Daydream View or other low-cost gear are inexpensive starting just for $10 up to $100 and because everything is done on your mobile, you don’t have to connect it to your PC or PS4. On the downside they are not specifially designed for VR, so you will never get a view as good as on tethered devices. On the other hand tethered devices are way better in technology and picture quality, but are also much more expensive ($400+).

External tracking is one of the biggest advantages of tethered devices: You have an extra, external device tracking your position and significantly improving head tracking.
But do you need position tracking for porn? I don’t think so. There is an advantage of improved head tracking, but in my opinion a few hundred bucks extra just to bypass troubles with that is way too much. If you are a gamer and just want to watch porn occasionally a tethered device is recommended. Else, a mobile container will satisfy your needs if you already own a mobile phone with a decent screen and CPU power.
